Bradley Barcola interest confirmed with PSG winger “keen” on Liverpool transfer

Liverpool’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has been backed up by reliable sources, while reports in France claim he is “keen” to move.

Barcola was touted with a move to Anfield last summer only for a decision to be made not to block Rio Ngumoha‘s pathway.

A year later and the stance appears to have changed, with Ngumoha establishing himself as a regular in the squad but with it clear Liverpool need a new starting left winger.

That, combined with the imminent departure of Mohamed Salah, has led Liverpool to “assess multiple wide options” and return to PSG’s No. 29.

The Times‘ Paul Joyce has corroborated claims of interest in Barcola, who is being considered alongside RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

From France: Barcola “increasingly receptive” to Liverpool move

Reports of Liverpool’s interest of Barcola go further in France, with Le 10 Sport claiming he is the “subject of intense pressure” from Merseyside and is “increasingly receptive.”

“A new chapter has unfolded with the same key players,” editor-in-chief Alexis Bernard writes.

“On one side, Liverpool, back in the hunt and more insistent than ever on signing Bradley Barcola. On the other, a player clearly interested in the project proposed by the English club.

“And facing these two camps, PSG, listening attentively, haven’t ruled out discussing a transfer if the player expresses a desire to leave.”

Barcola, 23, has made 45 appearances for PSG this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting seven, but is not a guaranteed starter.

Instead he shares starting duties with the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue and has seen his game time decrease since returning from injury last month – only coming off the bench in the last three Champions League games.

If he were to join Liverpool the France international would almost certainly be first choice week in, week out, replacing Cody Gakpo in the lineup.

That Barcola is described as “keen” on joining and there no longer appears to be a roadblock in terms of squad planning at Anfield is hugely encouraging.

No movement will be made until the end of the season, of course, with the winger focused on winning Ligue 1 and the Champions League again with PSG.

But it is certainly a story worth keeping an eye on as Liverpool head towards a pivotal summer transfer window.
