The Cleveland Browns are going to have a choice to make should embattled quarterback Brendan Sorsby enter the NFL's supplemental draft this summer. Right now, the current Texas Tech quarterback faces eligibility issues stemming from gambling over the course of his collegiate career. If Sorsby is deemed ineligible by the NCAA for his actions, then he'll likely enter the NFL's supplemental draft, usually held in July.
That's assuming the NFL allows him to enter the league, as they may also rule that he can't join the NFL due to his gambling. Right now, though, entering the NFL does appear to be the most likely path for Sorsby going forward, and it's a path that may include the Browns.
Depending on who you ask, the Browns may have their eyes on Sorsby in the supplemental draft. That doesn't mean they'll take him, but fans should expect GM Andrew Berry to do his homework on the young player.
The Browns would have to win a bidding process to land him, making his arrival in Cleveland tenious at best, even if he does enter the supplemental draft. Despite all the criticisms and concerns surrounding Sorsby, you better believe some people are very excited about the possibility of him joining the Browns.

Joe Royer is the Browns' new rookie tight end, selected in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Prior to his current landing spot, he spent two seasons playing with Sorsby at Cincinnati, where the two linked up for 79 receptions, 937 yards, and seven touchdowns. Few guys have played with Sorsby as long as Royer, so when he was asked by the Browns media this week about his former quarterback, Royer gave him his stamp of approval.
"I firmly believe he's a first-round talent," Royer said. "He has all the tools that make him a successful quarterback."
Royer would go on to describe Sorsby as 'big', 'quick', 'smart', and having a 'big arm'. His belief that Sorsby is a first-round talent isn't unique to Royer. Many, including Pro Football Focus, agree with the sentiment that the dual-threat quarterback would be a first-round pick had it not been for his current investigation.
Whether or not Sorsby enteres the NFL is anyone's guess at the moment, but if he does come out in the supplmental draft, at least one Browns player is optimistic about his ability to succeed at this level.
