Chelsea believe any manager they hire will accept€85m transfer target

It is going to be a busy summer for Chelsea, who are set to bring in a new manager following the sacking of Liam Rosenior.

After such a disappointing Premier League campaign, the Blues will also be expected to make several new signings.

Right now, the likes of Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon and Ajax’s Mika Godts are being linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea think Anthony Gordon will appeal to all their managerial targets

Chelsea are one club who are interested in signing Gordon this summer despite not having a manager.

The Conference League holders not having a permanent head coach has not presented an issue on their end, though.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Chelsea are convinced whoever becomes their next manager will be happy with the signing of Gordon if he arrives.

It is going to take a lot of money to get Gordon out of St James’ Park in the upcoming transfer window, with another journalist, Florian Plettenberg, revealing on X that Newcastle could demand up to €85m (£73.5m) for his signature.

Chelsea will not have Champions League revenue coming in next term, so they may not be able to go crazy in the transfer market when it opens.

Anthony Gordon would be great first signing for next Chelsea manager

If Gordon turns out to be the first signing that Chelsea make this summer, Rosenior’s successor can be more than pleased.

With Gordon, whoever Chelsea hire will know what they are getting. The 25-year-old is an experienced Premier League player who is direct and scores goals.

The Blues have probably lacked that on their left flank this season. Alejandro Garnacho does not always take on his man, while Jamie Gittens has been injured for a large part of the campaign.

Pedro Neto has had a go there, but he is not prolific and is much better on the right. All in all, Gordon could be a good addition to this Chelsea squad.
