Jerry Jones is the owner and general manger of the Dallas Cowboys. He previously saw much success with the franchise, when they won 3 Super Bowl titles in the 1990s. They have not found the same success in recent times, failing to win the Super Bowl for 30 years.
Jones is attempting to recreate the glory from the golden times for the team, but is facing many problems. Many are pointing out one of his mistakes relating to the stadium.
Jerry Jones ignored sun glare warnings at AT&T Stadium
The Cowboys’ home, the iconic AT&T Stadium was opened in 2009 at a cost of approximately $1.2 billion. It features a unique east-west field orientation with massive 120-foot-tall glass doors on the southwest end.
This design allows natural light to flood the interior, which accommodates the enclosed indoor venue to have an open-air feel.

But it has also become an issue at many late afternoon games. During the 3:25 p.m. CT window, when the games are usually held, the setting sun streams directly onto the field through these windows. This creates a glare that affects the players’ visibility, affecting both the Cowboys and their opponents.
Multiple incidents including Cowboys wide receivers like Dez Bryant, CeeDee Lamb, and others have dropped passes during key moments due to the glare. Despite multiple warnings to use curtains or other modifications to prevent the glare, Jones has refused to do so.
He once said, “By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we flip the coin, so we do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium. Let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one. Are you kidding me?”
However, many fans did not agree with him at all.
Fans criticize Jerry Jones for sun glare problems
Many fans felt that Jones was stubborn and should have resolved the problem by now.
One user said, “Worst stadium design ever”.
A second user wrote, “Getting warned about the sunlight issue and still going forward with it makes every blinding sun clip at Cowboys games even crazier”.
A third user replied, “Jerry Jones warned about sun glare, wanted outdoor aesthetic anyway. That’s owner stubbornness energy. When billion-dollar problems stem from ego, franchise suffers different.”
Another added, “Jerry Jones been blinding Cowboys fans for three decades. @clarencehilljr”.
A fifth user remarked, “if you seen jerry jones then you know he doesn’t care for anyone opinions or suggestions, it’s his way or you can part ways with this organization lol”.
A sixth user commented, “Pure Incompetence from Jerry Jones”.
It remains to be seen whether Jerry Jones will take any action regarding this issue in the future.
