Deion and Shedeur’s mother Pilar have been divorced since 2013. They have a strained relationship since then and are rarely seen together in public. The two were married for 14 years and share three children, Shilo, Shedeur, and Shelomi.

The family recently reunited during a notable family event on May 8, 2026. Their daughter Shelomi graduated from Alabama A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies, concentrating in Sports Management. The family attended her graduation ceremony.
The moment was captured in a vlog by Shedeur. Regarding his father, he said, “Cuz my mama here, you know how he smiles. Don’t tell me what education can’t do. I got my dad and my mom in the same room, booked out. There’s a reason he put on a mask so they don’t see that he smiles.”
His sister Shelomi also expressed joy at the reunion. She posted an Instagram story with a video of Deion and Pilar sitting together. The caption said, “Look at how close I got them”, along with the hashtags #familyreunion, #together, #doitforthekids, #imthekid, and #sanders. It was a rare example of Deion and Pilar setting aside their differences for their children. Shelomi’s graduation comes just days after her brother Shedeur had his graduation moment.
Shedeur Sanders celebrates graduation
Shedeur officially graduated from the University of Colorado on May 2, 2026, earning his degree in sociology. The former Colorado Buffaloes star took part in the commencement ceremony and shared a video message with fellow graduates. In the video, he is seen saying, “What’s up? We at graduation. It’s called excellence, man. It’s excellence.”
Aside from that, he also paid tribute to his father, by recreating one of his iconic pre-Super Bowl photos. He laid out his graduation cap and gown, similar to what Deion did it before Super Bowl XXIX by laying out his football uniform in the locker room.
Shedeur Sanders will be glad to have spent quality time with his family and will now focus on the 2026 NFL season.
