Alisson in talks with Juventus – Liverpool have goalkeeper plan if he leaves

Juventus are reported to now be directly in talks with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson over a potential move to Turin this summer.

The 33-year-old has been strongly linked with the Italian side in recent weeks, and now reporters Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook report that they are advancing in talks.

Liverpool activated a one-year extension of the Brazilian’s contract earlier this year, but that could also have been with the intention to retain a re-sale value this summer.

Alisson is claimed to be open to the move but also “not agitating to leave unless it suits all parties.”

Alisson is currently sidelined with a hamstring issue that has beset his last two seasons, missing the last nine games in what is his fourth absence of the season.

Last season he missed 14 games, with hamstring, concussion and thigh problems.

Giorgi Mamardashvili ‘to be Liverpool No.1’

Jacobs writes that, should Alisson depart, Liverpool view Giorgi Mamardashvili as their long-term No.1 and the Georgian will be given the chance next season.

He adds that the Reds have also “done homework on keepers as part of due diligence.”

Liverpool have, therefore, been tenuously linked recently with the likes of Man City‘s James Trafford and Sunderland‘s Robin Roefs, while Porto’s Diogo Costa is said to have been an option the club looked at before signing Mamardashvili from Valencia.

Mamardashvili’s £29 million transfer was arranged in summer 2024, before joining the club in 2025. He’s made 18 appearances so far this season and is clearly a good shot stopper but there are questions around his distribution, which is a key requirement for a Liverpool goalkeeper.

Alisson’s departure would underline end of an era

Alisson‘s departure after eight years would be another to underline the end of an era feel around Anfield.

Already confirmed to be leaving are, of course, Mo Salah and Andy Robertson, two fellow mainstays from the Jurgen Klopp era that won every major honour available.

There are set to be further departures from the first-team squad, with Ibrahima Konate still yet to agree a new contract, Curtis Jones expected to leave and doubts over Alexis Mac Allister‘s future.

Speaking last week, Arne Slot admitted there will be a “little transition” within the squad again this summer, saying:

“It will be another little transition, probably not as drastic as it was last summer, but we have to change a bit of personnel because of the players who are leaving.”

On Saturday, though, after a dour draw with Chelsea, the Dutchman insisted he is “100 percent convinced that we will be a different team next season than we are now, different in terms of results, different in how things look.”

That belief, Slot says, is based upon having “the summer that we are planning to have.”
