Chelsea could make another attempt to sign£40m Arsenal player

Chelsea and Arsenal could be set to do more business with each other this summer after doing a couple of deals last year.

Chelsea sold Noni Madueke and Kepa Arrizabalaga to their London rivals, but this time it could be the Blues doing the purchasing.

QUARTER-FINAL 4: Which Chelsea player has had the best season?

Chelsea are without a manager following the sacking of Liam Rosenior; however, they still appear to have their transfer targets.

Chelsea could make fresh move for Ethan Nwaneri

One Arsenal player who is said to be on Chelsea’s radar is Ethan Nwaneri. Last July, Nwaneri was attracting interest from Chelsea, and it looks like they are still keen on the attacking midfielder.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are monitoring Nwaneri’s situation after trying to sign him in the past. The outlet states that Arsenal could be tempted to sell Nwaneri for £35m–£40m.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Marseille after struggling for minutes at Arsenal in the first half of the season.

Nwaneri is not the only Arsenal star who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea also want to sign Riccardo Calafiori to strengthen their backline.

How Ethan Nwaneri is faring at Marseille amid Chelsea interest

Nwaneri will be pleased that he left Arsenal temporarily for Marseille. Again, the England Under-21 international was hardly playing at the Emirates.

In France, Nwaneri has been handed more opportunities and has not done too badly. In total, he has made nine appearances in Ligue 1, scoring two goals across those games. He has also managed to record one assist.

At Arsenal this season, the attacker only made six appearances in the Premier League, and none were starts.

Chelsea’s next manager may not be able to offer Nwaneri too much football either, so a move to Stamford Bridge would not make much sense for him. With that in mind, it would be a surprise if Nwaneri joined Chelsea in the summer.
