Palace persevere with ‘incredible’ mentality and quality

Oliver Glasner gave his thoughts on a 2-2 draw between Crystal Palace and Everton.

Twice his men responded to going behind as Ismaila Sarr cancelled out an early James Tarkowski strike and Jean-Philippe Mateta levelled after **Beto**banked a goal not long after the restart.

‘The reaction today was much better’

The Eagles are still flying from the high of Conference League final qualification, and their head coach takes even more belief from the competitiveness of his camp after their match in midweek.

"I am pleased with the performance, especially the second half. In the end, it felt like Everton played three days ago. We made pressure, created chances and missed a few. I am proud of the team's effort and the belief we had and also the mentality to play for a win. It was a huge performance.

“We always knew Everton can be dangerous. At the end it was one mistake we made, but I'm really proud of the team's effort today of the belief we had and also on the mentality, not to get the draw over the goal line but to play for our win. I think it was a huge performance today.

“Conference League* is very technical, and the Premier League is so physical. After the first 10 minutes we had to find the switch. In the first 10 minutes they were just in our half. It was like this against Bournemouth, with corners.*

*“We talked about it and the reaction today was much better than it was against Bournemouth. I think we played well, scored a nice goal, always were threatening. It's psychological. The way we played the way we created chances, it was great to watch, big credit to the players.*

*“Seven months ago, we played at Everton, we dominated first 60 minutes but then we had a drop off and pressure increased. We lost 2-1 and today I had the feeling it was the opposite. The last 30 minutes we were more on their half, and we were the team maybe closer to win it. We have played more than 20 games since, and this is just the development of the team and what we can be proud of.*

"The last Premier League game was between the two semi-finals and now there is two and half weeks to prepare for the final, it's a little bit different. The players, even yesterday, looked much fresher. This is what they showed today, it's not just the mentality, it's the quality, it was incredible.

“We play City in three days, this makes them more aggressive, we are neutral. We want to get point after point. Today’s performance makes me proud and now we prepare for City. We know they are on a good run, playing so well, but these performances will help us develop individually and as a team.”
