Leeds United have been linked with Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor after previous Everton interest
Leeds United have been linked with a summer move for Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor.
Football Insider claim the Elland Road side are monitoring Isidor’s situation ahead of the transfer window, with Leeds expected to look at attacking reinforcements as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.
Isidor played a major role in Sunderland’s promotion campaign and started the season in encouraging form, but his game time has reduced significantly since Brian Brobbey established himself as Régis Le Bris’ preferred central striker.
The 25-year-old has not started a Premier League game since early December and has scored once in his last 24 appearances. He has still managed five Premier League goals across the campaign, but his reduced role has led to growing uncertainty around his future at the Stadium of Light.
Leeds United are said to be looking for greater competition in attack, with Daniel Farke expected to strengthen his forward options this summer. Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor are already part of the picture, but Isidor is reportedly among the names on the club’s radar.
The link comes after previous reports claimed Isidor could look to move on this summer in search of more regular football. Everton and Nottingham Forest were credited with interest in January, while Crystal Palace and Burnley were also said to have explored late-window loan possibilities.
Sunderland were reluctant to weaken their squad midway through the season as they focused on securing Premier League safety, but the picture could change this summer if suitable offers arrive. Isidor remains under contract until 2028, giving Sunderland a strong hand in any negotiations. The Black Cats were previously reported to have valued the forward at around £25million in January, though there have been suggestions that figure may need to be lowered if a summer exit is to materialise.
For Sunderland, the striker’s situation forms part of a wider attacking review ahead of their second Premier League season under Le Bris. Brobbey’s emergence has altered the pecking order, while the club are also expected to explore further forward additions during the summer window under sporting director Florent Ghisolfi.
