The week has finally come. The 2026 NFL schedule will officially be released this Thursday, May 14th and fans all across the NFL world will get to see when their favorite teams play their listed opponents. This coming season will be a start of a new era for the Buffalo Bills. They have a new stadium and a new coaching staff led by Joe Brady.
After the first wave of free agency and the NFL Draft, the Bills now have a better understanding of how their roster could play out. Now it will soon be time to see when the Bills will play specific opponents.
They have a tough set of opponents and while it won’t be an easy path for the Bills, there are certain schedule scenarios that could be in Buffalo’s favor and help them gain some much-needed wins.
4 dream scenarios for Bills 2026 schedule
1.) Chargers and Dolphins come to Buffalo in November/December
Everyone knows that Orchard Park gets cold come November/December time. The Bills are going to be hosting two teams that play in warm weather in the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers. When the elements change, it can have an effect on teams.
If the Bills can get LA and Miami later on in the season where they will have to play in colder temperatures, it will give Buffalo a big time advantage.
2.) Bills avoid trip to Green Bay late in the season
Even though the Bills play in cold weather, it gets very cold up in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Bills will be traveling to Green Bay to take on the Packers, and Lambeau Field is already tough to play in when you don’t add in the weather. The last time the Bills played the Packers in Green Bay, they were shutout 22-0. In fact, the Bills haven’t beaten the Packers in Green Bay since 1991.
If the Bills are able to avoid playing Green Bay late in the season, it should be an even matchup between the two.
3.) Bills get tough opponents right out of the gate
Fans can easily find out what kind of team their favorite team is right from the start. When it comes to the Bills, with all of the changes that have happened in the organization, giving them tough opponents right from the start not only clears them for the second half of the season, but they will know what kind of team they truly are. These opponents can include teams like the Patriots, Rams, Ravens, Chiefs, Bears, and Lions.
4.) Buffalo opens up their new stadium on primetime against...the New England Patriots
With a new stadium and in a new era in the organization, there is only one right way to open the season. Give Buffalo a primetime matchup in Week 1 where they host the New England Patriots, a team that they could be battling for the division every year now that they have a franchise quarterback in Drake Maye. Start off the season strong against a team that will be in a close race with Buffalo for the next decade.
