Liverpool have released images of a permanent memorial to the late Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
The pair were killed in a car accident in Spain last July. A temporary memorial has been laid outside Anfield on 97 Avenue since last summer, and will now be joined by a permanent tribute.
Entitled ‘Forever 20’, the sculpture features golden ribbons which form the numbers 20 and 30 - Jota and Silva’s respective shirt numbers - and a heart, depending on the angle from which they are viewed.
The piece will also include the lyrics of Jota’s song, which Liverpool fans have continued to sing faithfully throughout this campaign.
The plinth holding ‘Forever 20’ will be made of recycled stone, which will incorporate some of the physical tributes left by supporters outside the ground.
A Liverpool club statement read: “[Forever 20] celebrates [Diogo Jota and Andre Silva’s] lives, their bond, and the love and respect felt by family, teammates and supporters across the world.
Diogo Jota’s temporary memorial has stood since his passing and has regularly seen contributions from visiting teams
“It will serve as a permanent symbol of love, unity and remembrance, and a place where everyone can reflect, remember and pay their respects.”
Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and went on to score 65 goals in 182 appearances. He was a part of the squad which won the Premier League in 2024-25 and also won the FA Cup in 2022, scoring a penalty as the Reds beat Chelsea in a shootout.
Since his passing, Liverpool have retired Jota’s No20 shirt, and he has also been inducted into the Hall of Fame at Wolves, his previous club.
