Liverpool offer first look at permanent memorial to Diogo Jota

Liverpool FC have released images of a new permanent memorial paying tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.

Liverpool FC have released images of a new permanent memorial paying tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.

The forward was killed alongside his brother in a car crash in July 2025 as he made his way back to Liverpool for pre-season training.

The two Portuguese players will now be memorialised with a permanent sculpture outside Anfield titled "Forever 20", which the club says "celebrates their lives, their bond, and the love and respect felt by family, teammates and supporters across the world."

The club continued in a statement: "At its centre is a flowing heart sculpture, in acknowledgement of Diogo’s iconic goal celebration, while viewed from different angles it also reveals the numbers 20 and 30, which adorned the back of the brothers’ playing shirts.

"It will also feature the lyrics to Jota’s famous song so beloved by Liverpool fans, and one they still sing at every game on the 20th minute."

Jota died just days after getting married to his long-term partner Rute Cardoso, and was about to begin pre-season training when he died.

Shortly after his death Liverpool fans came to Anfield to pay tribute, with hundreds of scarves, flags, and flowers left outside the ground.

Liverpool retired Jota's No.20 shirt at all levels of the club last season, and fans have continued to chant the forward's name in the 20th minute of every match.

There is no date set for the sculpture to be properly installed, but the club has confirmed it will be positioned on 97 Avenue close to where tributes were paid shortly after his death.
