The search for a new Chelsea manager rolls on as the team is currently operating under interim coach Calum McFarlane. This is the second such endeavour the club have undergone recently after replacing Enzo Maresca with Liam Rosenior in January, before parting ways with the Englishman just a few short months later as the team collapsed under the former Strasbourg man.

Kaveh Solhekol Reveals Shortlist
According to Sky reporter Kaveh Solhekol, the shortlist of names to replace Rosenior is now down to approximately five or six names. While he does not name everyone on the list, he does reveal that Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, and Xabi Alonso are three of the names being weighed up by the Blues to take the mantle.

These are three names that have been in the public space since the change happened with some like Filipe Luis or Cesc Fabregas also being considered by the betting market and fans.
Preferred Candidate Reportedly Named
In a recent report by Kieran Gill, it was stated that Alonso is the “preferred choice” among the hierarchy and decision makers. There is some doubts as to whether they can convince him to take up the role. The former Real Madrid manager shot to notoriety with Bayer Leverkusen when he went undefeated in the Bundesliga to claim the championship.

His tenure with Los Blancos didn’t end as desired but the team haven’t fared much better without him, going trophyless after losing out on La Liga at the weekend. The former Liverpool player would be an excellent replacement for Chelsea to appoint, his adaptability has been on display having used different setups to succeed in different teams so far. He would be able to use their on ball skills to control games as a key idea, as seen at his previous employers.
