Depot After Dark: Minicamp Photo, Draft Class Footage, Giants Waiting On Odell

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article, but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for May 10.

Rookie Minicamp Photo

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookies gathered for a group photo shared on the team’s Twitter/X account Saturday night after the team’s final practice (Mike McCarthy ended camp before Sunday, allowing players to be with their families on Mother’s Day).

The team’s 10 draft picks, six UDFAs, and rookie tryout members got together for this aerial shot.

As of this writing, there’s been no word of any tryout players signing to the roster. Still, that decision could come during the upcoming week. No matter what happens, those guys will have this memory for a lifetime. For the rookies under contract, this weekend marked their first steps in making and helping the team.

Draft Class Footage

The Steelers’ Twitter/X account shared a montage of the draft picks in some of their first NFL action. Quarterback Drew Allar took reps under center, a point of emphasis under Mike McCarthy, while offensive tackle Max Iheanachor worked on his pass sets. Defensively, cornerback Daylen Everette and safety Robert Spears-Jennings worked on block deconstruction.

Meaningful evaluation is hard this time of year, but the rookies are setting the foundation to build upon throughout the rest of the season.

Giants Waiting On Beckham

Despite rumored interest, the New York Giants are in no hurry to sign WR Odell Beckham Jr. Head coach John Harbaugh said the team could revisit Beckham this summer, but doesn’t have plans to ink him to a deal.

“Talked to Odell a lot, probably three or four times in the last week, [see] where he’s at, where we’re at,” Harbaugh said via ESPN Saturday. “He’s in Arizona right now, training and spending time with his son. The goal for right now is for him to train and get as ready as he can be. And then we’ll see where we’re at at that time.”

Harbaugh acknowledged Beckham’s injury history and the reality that his body might not hold up throughout the season.

“I think we’ll just play it out over the next month and into training camp and see where we’re at,” Harbaugh said.

Beckham last played a regular-season game in 2024 with the Miami Dolphins, and he hasn’t found the end zone since 2023. Turning 34 in November, Beckham flashed back on NFL radars after impressing in a USA/World flag football game earlier this year. Still, that’s miles away from the NFL’s rigors, and the Giants likely won’t sign him unless injuries strike.

Beckham previously expressed interest in joining the Steelers, but that idea quieted down after Mike Tomlin’s resignation.
