The Denver Broncos elected to address the offensive line with a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, despite glaring weakness within the unit. George Paton and Sean Payton are looking toward the future and Kage Casey, who the team selected out of Boise State, could be a key piece of that future.
Casey played the all-important left tackle position at Boise State, but when the Broncos held their rookie minicamp from May 8-10, he was lining up as both a tackle and a guard. There is even some thought that he could play center as well.
Versatility is one of the most important traits any offensive lineman can possess in the NFL, particularly for rotational backups. It's obvious that the Broncos are looking at Casey to be one of their main reserves even as early as this coming season.
Kage Casey may have a big role in Broncos' future offense
The Broncos' starting offensive line is basically already set, despite it only being May. That's because the team has the same group intact from last season, with Garett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey at the tackle spots, Quinn Meinerz and Ben Powers at guard, and Luke Wattenberg playing center.
Alex Palczewski signed a contract extension this offseason, but as a fourth-round pick, Casey is going to make the team. Frank Crum is a valued reserve as well, so that would give the Broncos eight offensive linemen on the roster already.

It seems like it is going to be difficult for veterans such as Matt Peart, Calvin Throckmorton and Alex Forysth to crack the 53-man roster this season.
