Liverpool are still locked in talks with Ibrahima Konaté over a new deal — but there’s still no breakthrough.
And according to TEAMtalk, the delay isn’t really about the length of the contract or the role he would play.
It’s down to money.
The report claims the sticking points right now are signing-on fees and agent payments, which are holding up progress on what many thought would be a straightforward renewal.
Konaté has become an important part of Liverpool’s defence, especially alongside Virgil van Dijk, so the club will be keen to get this sorted as quickly as possible.
But at the moment, talks are still ongoing with no agreement in place.
From Liverpool’s point of view, this is exactly the kind of situation they want resolved before it drags on.
Because the longer negotiations go on, the more risk there is of uncertainty creeping in — especially with other clubs always monitoring top defenders.
For now, both sides are still talking.
But until those final details are settled, Konaté’s future at Anfield remains open.
