Marcus Rashford has revealed he would like to turn his loan deal at Barcelona into a permanent move this summer amid the Spanish champions' interest in Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

Rashford scored a stunning free-kick in El Clasico on Sunday night as Hansi Flick's side thrashed rivals Real Madrid 3-0 to secure a second successive La Liga title.

The 28-year-old has 14 goals and 14 assists in all competitions for the Blaugrana this season and they retain an option, of around £26million, to sign him permanently from Manchester United.

Rashford left the Red Devils in the summer after it was made clear he would not feature in head coach Ruben Amorim's plans. Amorim has since been replaced by Michael Carrick in the Old Trafford hotseat and has led to questions over whether he could return to the club ahead of next season.

But when pressed on his future, Rashford insisted his preference would be to remain in Catalonia beyond the end of this campaign.

"I don't know, I'm not a magician but if I was, I would stay at Barcelona," Rashford replied when asked about his future.

"We will see. Football is unpredictable but for now, I will just enjoy it, live in the moment and reassess at the end of the season and see what is possible."

Rashford's situation will have a direct effect on their interest in Gordon, who looks set to leave Newcastle United this summer. Barcelona are in the market to sign a left-winger and could turn their attentions towards the 25-year-old as opposed to Rashford.

It is understood Barca have until early June to trigger their option to buy Rashford but after Gordon's agents were pictured meeting sporting director Deco in the Spanish press last week, it has muddied the waters.

Newcastle are holding out for around £75million to sell the England international winger this summer which would make any deal to Barcelona complicated. Bayern Munich are also heavily interested in Gordon's services, while Arsenal and Liverpool have also been tentatively linked with a move.
