Chelsea are yet to appoint a new manager, and it makes it difficult to forecast what the future looks like for some Blues players, but Glen Johnson thinks Axel Disasi has a shot at redemption.
According to Kaveh Solhekol, Chelsea want to appoint a manager by the middle of next month. That will allow whoever Chelsea appoint to have his say on what happens in the transfer market this summer.
Is there a way back for Axel Disasi at Chelsea?
Or do the Blues just need to cut their losses? 👀

The incoming Chelsea boss will have plenty to sort out. If the Blues fail to get into Europe, then he will have to deal with a bloated squad, one full of egos, with fewer matches to play throughout 2026-27.
A whole heap of players are set to return to Stamford Bridge after loan spells and one of those is Axel Disasi, who is on fire at West Ham despite their precarious league position. Glen Johnson has had his say.
Glen Johnson thinks Axel Disasi redemption is likely at Chelsea
Disasi impressed in his first season at Chelsea. Indeed, he was one of two signings Mauricio Pochettino claims he made, alongside Cole Palmer. But Enzo Maresca ostracised the £38m signing from Monaco.
He would go on loan in the second half of his second season at Chelsea to Aston Villa. But he hardly played and returned last summer, to find himself part of Chelsea’s bomb squad with Raheem Sterling.

However, in January, he joined West Ham and has played a key part in the Hammers’ fight against relegation. Speaking to Goal, former Blues defender Johnson reckons there is a way back for Disasi.
“He can obviously play. Is he good enough to perform at the top of the league? Not so sure. He’s still got many years in him. If he’s on the upward trajectory now, I’m sure Chelsea will be looking back at him.”
What are the chances that West Ham actually sign Axel Disasi
West Ham’s players and Disasi will be eagerly watching tonight’s clash between Leeds United and Tottenham. The Hammers’ 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday saw Leeds and Forest secure survival.

Spurs are the only side that West Ham can now catch, though Tottenham seem to have turned a corner. Two Spurs wins in a row sees West Ham sit in the relegation zone, two points behind their London rivals.
If West Ham have any chance of signing Disasi permanently, it is by surviving the threat of relegation. As things stand, it looks as if the Hammers will be relegated at the end of the season, with two left to play.
That, perhaps, accelerates the chances of Disasi returning to Chelsea this summer. There will be interest in the defender, with Leeds United supposedly among the clubs keeping an eye on the Frenchman.
