The Patriots plan to fill one of their final two roster spots by signing undrafted safety Peter Manuma, according to a source.
Manuma, who went undrafted out of Hawaii, participated in this weekend’s rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
The 6-feet, 200-pound safety was a starter for four years at Hawaii and piled up 280 tackles with 11 tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions, 15 pass breakups and three forced fumbles in 49 games.
He impressed at Hawaii’s pro day in March, running a 4.49-second 40-yard dash with a 1.59-second 10-yard split, 35.5-inch vertical leap, 10-feet broad jump, 4.69-second short shuttle and 7.01-second 3-cone drill with 12 bench press reps of 225 pounds.
The first defender in this Patriots rookie minicamp drill, No. 1, is tryout safety Peter Manuma, Hawaii.
