The Buffalo Bills still needed to address the EDGE rusher position this offseason. Rookie second-round pick T.J. Parker is currently the top backup, with Michael Hoecht potentially limited to start the season while recovering from an Achilles injury sustained in November. If Hoecht is limited or misses time in 2026, Javon Solomon would be the next man up, having recorded just three sacks in a limited rotational role over his first two seasons.

On X, the Bills announced they have signed Mike Danna to a one-year contract, though they did not disclose the salary or guaranteed money. The former Kansas City Chiefs fifth-round pick brings depth and experience, having started 56 games and recorded 23.5 sacks, including the playoffs, through his first six seasons. Danna is expected to serve in a key rotational role and could start in a pinch.

After a career year in 2023, recording a career-high 47 pressures and 6.5 sacks, Mike Danna wasn’t able to live up to the three-year, $24 million contract extension he signed in 2024, while seeing his production dip and missing six games due to injury. He recorded six tackles for loss, 31 pressures, ten quarterback hits, 4.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles across 16 games in 2024, having missed four contests with a pectoral and calf injury. Danna had a down year in 2025, posting a career low three tackles for loss, nine pressures, four quarterback hits, and one sack, along with one interception in 15 games, having missed two weeks due to a quad injury.
The Chiefs released Danna in February.
