Liverpool may have watched Manchester City poach Marc Guehi from their grasp after a failed deadline-day transfer last summer, but Tottenham has been warned that its pursuit of Marcos Senesi could be in jeopardy.
Guehi was on the verge of joining Liverpool from Crystal Palace last summer, but the deal fell through at the last minute. Palace failed to land a capable replacement and decided to pull the plug, retaining the defender until January.
City then swooped in and signed Guehi to assist with their Premier League title push, while Liverpool agreed to sign Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet. With defensive stability needed, the club could attempt to sign Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.

Tottenham is already in advanced talks to sign Senesi on a free transfer this summer. The Argentine defender is out of contract at the end of the season, after seeing out his four-year deal signed in 2022.
It's believed that the 29-year-old defender has an agreement in principle with Tottenham, but it hinges on the club avoiding relegation to the Championship. Even if Tottenham does stay up, nothing can be signed until his Bournemouth deal expires.
The prospect of landing Senesi on a free transfer has sparked broader interest, and according to Give Me Sport, Liverpool could swoop in. Senesi played one season under Liverpool head coach Arne Slot during his time at Feyenoord, before joining Bournemouth.

Soccer reporter Ben Jacobs claimed that Liverpool could enter the race for Senesi this summer. "Tottenham’s business is contingent on whether they are or aren’t in the Premier League — but there is still that agreement in principle in place with Marcos Senesi if Spurs stay up," he said.
"But Liverpool could enter the race at the last minute, that’s why it’s perversely both a closed race and an open race. Closed in the sense that Tottenham are very optimistic that Sensei would want to join if they stay up, but open in the sense that Liverpool could try and hijack or they get relegated.
"It’s highly likely Sensei’s next destination will be in the Premier League."

Senesi began his career at San Lorenzo in his native Argentina, and later moved to Feyenoord. The defender once won the Goal of the Season award, and almost clinched his first club trophy in his final season, and only campaign under Slot.

Feyenoord lost in the UEFA Conference League final during the 2021-22 season, but Senesi has stepped up since joining Bournemouth. He has played more games than ever this season and has helped the club push for a European spot.
The 29-year-old has also been called up to the Argentina national team since moving to England and is expected to remain in the Premier League. Tottenham could be in need of a new center-back, with Cuti Romero and Mikey van de Ven linked with summer exits.
Liverpool still has one more season with Virgil van Dijk under contract, and Ibrahima Konate is also in talks over a new deal. Jacquet will arrive at Liverpool this summer, but depth is still required.
