Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Michael Woods II has signed with the Denver Broncos.
The Denver Broncos aren’t hesitating when it comes to the complete reboot of their wide receivers room this offseason. That overhaul includes the biggest deals to the smallest transactions.
“Former Browns WR Mike Woods is signing with the Broncos after his tryout at last weekend’s rookie minicamp, source said,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero wrote on his official X account on Monday.
“Broncos are signing former Browns WR Michael Woods II per source,” 9News Denver’s Mike Klis wrote on his official X account. “He had a successful pro tryout during rookie minicamp this weekend.”
Woods, 6-foot-1 and 204 pounds, was a 6th-round pick (No. 202 overall) by the Cleveland Browns out of Oklahoma in the 2022 NFL draft. He spent 3 seasons with Cleveland and was on the Green Bay Packers practice squad in 2025.
In college, Woods played 3 seasons at Arkansas before closing out his career with 1 season at Oklahoma, when he had 35 receptions for 400 yards and 2 touchdowns. Woods cemented his draft stock by running the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds at Oklahoma’s Pro Day.
History of Off-Field Issues in College & NFL
To this point in his career, Woods is best known for a series of off-field issues in both college and in the NFL.
In college, Woods was arrested and charged with driving under the influence as a freshman at Arkansas in 2018, but later pleaded down to reckless driving.
Woods had a miserable 2023 that included not only tearing his Achilles tendon during an offseason workout with quarterback DeShaun Watson, but also a 6-game suspension by the NFL in December 2023 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy, although the specifics of the incident have never been reported.
“The NFL suspendedBrowns WR Michael Woods for the final six games of the regular season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, stemming from an incident over the summer,” Pelissero wrote on his official X account on December 1, 2023. “Woods is out for the season with an Achilles tear.”
