£150k/week star 'in talks' to leave Liverpool, but he's not 'agitating' to complete transfer

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker is increasingly linked with a move to Italy, with Juventus reportedly in talks to sign the Brazilian.

Currently sidelined with injury, Liverpool could soon bid farwell to the 33-year-old after eight years at the club.

Reliable reporter Ben Jacobs claims that Juventus are in talks to sign Alisson, with the former AS Roma shot-stopper described as being ‘open’ to the transfer. Serie A is where Alisson made his name before joining the Reds for what was then a world record £66m fee for a goalkeeper.

Jacobs reports on X: “Juventus are currently in talks with Alisson, and the Brazilian keeper is open to joining.

“However, Alisson is expected to approach any potential exit in the same manner as Andy Robertson in January. He has an excellent relationship with LFC and is not agitating to leave unless it suits all parties.

“Alisson is heading into the final year of his Liverpool contract.

“Should Alisson leave, Giorgi Mamardashvili will be given the chance as No.1 next season.

“Liverpool have done homework on keepers as part of due diligence, but there is confidence in the existing group. Mamardashvili is still viewed as Liverpool’s long-term No.1.”

Liverpool better have a convincing plan to replace Alisson

There is A LOT of change going on at Anfield based on reports that are emerging.

Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are already confirmed to be on the way out this summer. That alone would constitute a major change just in terms of leadership within the senior group of players, but Alisson’s exit would mark a tremendous shift at Anfield.

The Brazilian goalkeeper is quite injury-prone, and at 33, he is not getting any younger.

Yet, even for around 30 games a season, Alisson is worth keeping despite his reported £150,000 per week wages.

So, if Liverpool are going to sell him, they better have a convincing plan for how they intend to move on from Alisson. Given that he has been the best 1v1 shot-stopper in the world for close to 10 years, it’s going to be very challenging to replace him.

Many fans, myself included, are yet to be convinced that Giorgi Mamardashvili is the best the club can do in terms of a long-term replacement.
