Ahead of the 2026 season, the Giants are being rebuilt under John Harbaugh. The veteran head coach parted ways with the Baltimore Ravens after 18 seasons. Now, he’s taken on the challenge of restoring a once proud franchise. For the upcoming season, the Giants’ offense will take on a new identity.
Based on his time in Baltimore and personnel he’s brought to New York, expect to see the team run the ball considerably. A strong rushing attack was a staple of the Ravens in years past. Additionally, Harbaugh’s teams have always played with physicality, even on offense. Expect to see that, and more from the New York Giants offense in 2026.
The New York Giants offense is building an identity for 2026
Will the Giants follow offensive trends from their new head coach?
In his final two years with the Ravens, head coach John Harbaugh was not shy about his team’s identity. During the 2024 season, Baltimore ran the ball on 53.6% their plays. That was the second-highest rate in the NFL behind the Philadelphia Eagles. Last year, the Ravens ran the ball 52.05% of the time. The highest rush rate in the NFL in 2025. On their roster, Baltimore had an All-Pro rushing attack. Pat Ricard led the way at fullback for running back Derrick Henry.
With Ricard joining Harbaugh in New York, it’s no secret what the Giants’ offense could look like in 2026. Pairing Ricard with running back Cam Skattebo has the chance to be a lethal attack for New York. Skattebo suffered a severe ankle injury in October 2025. However, he is progressing well and is expected to be cleared for traning camp in 2026. On 101 rushing attempts last season, Skattebo had 410 yards for five touchdowns. He also added 24 receptions for 207 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Imagine the production a healthy Skattebo could have with Ricard leading the way at fullback. Skattebo played in eight of New York’s 17 games and made five starts. If he bounces back quickly for 2026, the second-year pro could be in line for a 1,000-yard rushing season. During his final collegiate season, Skattebo carried the ball 297 times for 1,711 rushing yards. He is more than capable of carrying that type of workload. Fans are eager to see the Ricard and Skattebo combination in New York’s backfield.
New York has rebuilt the offensive line
Last season, the New York Giants’ offensive line saw improvement. During the 2024 campaign, the offensive line ranked 22nd of 32 teams. They jumped to the ninth-ranked offensive line in 2025, according to Pro Football Focus. New York’s starters were Andrew Thomas at left tackle, Jon Runyan playing left guard, John Michael-Schmitz at center, Greg Van Rotten playing right guard, and Jermaine Eluemunor at right tackle.
Four of those five offensive linemen will be returning for the 2026 season. Additionally, New York has made several moves through free agency and the draft to improve the offensive line. Eluemunor signed a three-year, $39 million contract extension with the Giants. That included $26 million guaranteed at signing. Keeping Eluemunor ensures the offensive line will have developed chemistry over time.
The team also used the 10th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft to boost the offensive line. Greg Van Rotten did not re-sign with New York this offseason. That left a glaring hole at right guard. Instead of signing a free agent, the Giants drafted Francis “Sisi” Mauigoa out of Miami. While he played tackle in college, Mauigoa will play right guard for New York. Former Giants players believe the rookie can become an All-Pro in year one. At six-foot-six, 329 pounds, Mauigoa helps add exactly what the New York Giants offense is trying to build. They want to be a run-first team that can also protect the quarterback.
