While there are plenty of free agent wide receivers still available, one of the most surprising veterans who are free to sign anywhere this offseason is Keenan Allen. The pass-catcher has remained one of the most consistent despite his age, but time is running out for the 34-year-old. A source believes that Allen could reunite with the Chicago Bears, and while that might be true, the receiver should receive plenty of interest right before the 2026 season. Unfortunately, teams would probably prefer other free agents, including Stefon Diggs, Deebo Samuel and Tyreek Hill.
Nobody should expect Keenan Allen to sign a contract before these receivers. Even though he’s still putting up reliable numbers, recording 700 receiving yards, it’s not enough for any team to prioritize him. Originally selected as a third-round pick in 2013, the former California product is one of the oldest pass-catchers in the league. It’s fair to wonder what the future holds for the veteran, but the Chargers have completely moved on.
The team drafted Brenen Thompson, and the Chargers already have Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith.

4 Teams Who Could Target Top Veteran Weapon Free Agent Keenan Allen
Meanwhile, it’s easy to see why the Bears might be an ideal landing spot. Following the trade of DJ Moore and the loss of Olamide Zaccheaus, there are depth concerns for this offense. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Bears target Allen if that’s the last resort. He didn’t live up to his potential in Chicago during the 2024 campaign, though.
The Bears selected Zavion Thomas in this year’s draft while recently signing Scotty Miller, so there isn’t any room for Allen anymore. Here are four teams that could take a chance.
Possible Destinations
Dallas Cowboys
Keenan Allen joining the Dallas Cowboys might be somewhat of an interesting move. The team signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling this offseason to a one-year deal to add depth to the pass-catching unit, but Allen could compete with him during workouts this summer. The Cowboys locked in George Pickens to a franchise tag, and still have CeeDee Lamb and Ryan Flournoy, who is coming off a blockbuster 2025 season. Allen isn’t going to be a starter for this offense, but it’s someone the Cowboys would benefit from, and he’s a better pass-catcher than Valdes-Scantling.
Atlanta Falcons
After losing Darnell Mooney, the Atlanta Falcons lost a crucial receiver to their offense. Even though they added Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus, this isn’t enough to help Drake London. The Falcons will have quarterback competition between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa, but it’s hard to envision that they will have enough experienced weapons to work with. Dotson is coming off an awkward year, while Zaccheaus is good in situational moments.
Keenan Allen won’t single-handedly save this team, but it’d benefit the offense to lean on an experienced veteran.
Indianapolis Colts
If any team needs a receiver right now, it’s the Colts. The team traded Michael Pittman Jr. to the Steelers to free up cap space. There’s still a void in the pass-catching unit, and that means Alec Pierce and Josh Downs need help. Keenan Allen won’t last more than a year, but it’d give Daniel Jones a true veteran to appear in the playoffs for the first time since the 2022 season, when he was with the Giants.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams explored trading Davante Adams this offseason, but that would’ve been wild if it had happened. WR1 Puka Nacua needs one more pass-catcher to help him in the aerial attack. Keenan Allen might be past his prime, but so is Adams. Why not pair these two, that has enough NFL experience to win it together for a Super Bowl, and leave Nacua in the right hands for the future of this team?
