Departing Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah still remains a "priority target" for Saudi Pro League clubs, following repeated attempts to bring the Egyptian winger to the Middle East.

Salah announced earlier this season that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, one year before his contract was set to expire. The mutual agreement allows Salah the opportunity to pick his next club, with the luxury of no transfer fee that could complicate a move.

Liverpool will also save $28 million in salary by canceling the final year of Salah's deal, though the club will have to spend big to sign a capable replacement. Salah's future remains a mystery, but Saudi Pro League clubs are expected to do all they can to sign the Egyptian this summer.

Salah is widely regarded as one of the most recognized and influential Muslims in the world, making him a priority for Saudi Pro League clubs. While Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, and Karim Benzema are all huge names playing in the Middle East, Salah would instantly become the most popular.

Al-Ittihad previously attempted to sign Salah from Liverpool, and the club recently lost star players Benzema and N'Golo Kante. However, with no transfer fee required, it's likely that all Saudi Pro League clubs will be attempting to lure Salah.

Salah has been linked with several clubs and regions, with reports that he could push to stay in Europe and prolong his Champions League legacy. That doesn't mean that Saudi Pro League clubs won't make approaches.

"What's happening in Saudi Arabia is that the funds are in place for a big Saudi club to sign Mohamed Salah this summer," said journalist Kaveh Solhekol on Sky Sports. "He is the priority target for the Saudi Pro League.

"We know three years ago that Al-Ittihad tried to sign him for £150 million. Why would a Saudi club not try and sign him now on a free transfer?

"Interestingly, the Saudi Pro League has announced a new funding model - player acquisition model - which is going to see the money available to sign players shared more equally between the clubs.

"The money is in place, when it comes to big football players like Mo Salah, the money is still there. I think the Saudi government are still committed to growing football in the Kingdom."

Salah will have no shortage of offers coming his way this summer. The Saudi Pro League will do all it can, but MLS and the Turkish Super League are also interested.

It's also thought that Salah could return to Italy, where he starred for Fiorentina and Roma before joining Liverpool. His salary demands may restrict certain teams from competing, but Napoli is a serious contender.

The Serie A club has already signed Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City, pairing him with former Manchester United duo Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay. Salah could also return to Roma, with the club set to lose Paulo Dybala this summer.
