David Ornstein has shared an update on Liverpool's stance on appointing Xabi Alonso as their next manager, after Chelsea opened talks to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
GIVEMESPORT reported that the Blues had held positive talks with the Spaniard about replacing Liam Rosenior as the next permanent manager in west London, although no final decision has been made and the process is ongoing.
But Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the 44-year-old too, and now their stance on hijacking Chelsea's swoop has emerged in a fresh update on Monday night.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for their former midfielder since he was sacked by Real Madrid in January, with big criticism for Arne Slot after a poor defence of his Premier League crown.
But while appearing on NBC Sports on Monday night, reliable journalist David Ornstein revealed that FSG are not considering Alonso at all for the manager's job at Anfield, with the current plan to take appearing on NBC SportsSlot into the new season as their head coach.
"Within the last hour, I have reported that Chelsea are exploring a deal to appoint Xabi Alonso as their next head coach," he said.
"It was suggested by many that he would be a strong contender, and he would appear to be at the forefront. As I understand it, Xabi Alonso is open to this possibility, although nothing at this point has been decided, and the process at Chelsea is ongoing.
"Talking of Xabi Alonso, he has for some time now, years, been heavily linked with the Liverpool head coach position post Jurgen Klopp, but it went to Arne Slot, and even now, with many fans clamoring for him to return to Anfield where he had such a successful playing career, but my information is that Xabi Alonso is not under consideration at Liverpool at all, and that Liverpool fully intend to go into next season with Arne slot as their head coach."

While it's lovely to see a club sticking by their manager despite a rough patch of form, Liverpool fans have every right to be seriously considering a new manager for next season.
Slot's performances this season have been totally unacceptable, with an absurd number of defeats, alongside fallouts with key players and not trusting people in the squad while publicly berating them.
A manager like Alonso would raise the morale around the place and bring in a proven winner to Anfield. FSG are taking a huge gamble by not even considering him, and they may fall behind a direct rival if he ends up at Chelsea.
