The Kansas City Chiefs spent the offseason reshaping their roster after another deep playoff run. George Karlaftis remained one of the franchise’s steadiest pieces.
Karlaftis had an even bigger weekend waiting overseas. A private celebration in Greece brought together family members and a few global celebrities for a ceremony.

Chiefs DE Karlaftis married longtime girlfriend Kaia Harris on May 9 at the One&Only Aesthesis resort in Glyfada, Greece. The three-day event included a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony, a beachside reception, and a farewell cookout attended by roughly 220 guests.
Reports also noted that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attended the celebration under a strict no-phones policy.

The Purdue product and Harris have been together since high school in West Lafayette, Indiana. They later attended Purdue together before Karlaftis proposed in April 2025. The wedding leaned heavily into the defender’s Greek roots. Traditional Stefana crowns, ceremonial altar walks, and Greek music filled the ceremony before guests moved to a reception overlooking the Athenian Riviera.
Karlaftis enters the 2026 season with momentum. The former first-round pick has become one of the Chiefs’ most reliable defensive players. He has been here since arriving in 2022. Karlaftis helped anchor another playoff push last season and remains central to the Chiefs’ pass-rush plans moving forward.
That role became even more important after the Chiefs invested heavily in their defensive core. Karlaftis signed a four-year, $88 million extension last year. The deal signaled how strongly the organization values his long-term fit alongside Chris Jones and the rest of Spagnuolo’s defense.
The offseason spotlight naturally shifted toward celebrity guests once news leaked from Greece. Several outlets reported that Swift and Kelce kept a low profile throughout the weekend while participating in traditional dancing and festivities. The focus stayed on Karlaftis and Harris, who chose privacy over spectacle during one of the biggest moments of their lives.
The newly married pass rusher turns back toward football. Training camp arrives in just a few months, and the Chiefs will again enter the season chasing another Super Bowl appearance with Karlaftis leading a defense expected to remain among the NFL’s best.
