The Seattle Seahawks spent the winter proving they belonged among the NFC’s elite. A deep playoff run and a Super Bowl appearance changed expectations around the franchise. Stories from inside the building continue to shape its reputation just as much as the wins.
Montorie Foster Jr. entered the conversation this week. The young receiver’s latest revelation offered a glimpse into how the Seahawks handle players still fighting for roster security, and it quickly caught the league’s attention.

Foster Jr. revealed this week that the Seahawks flew him, first class, for offseason workouts, a gesture first amplified Monday through NFL insider Dov Kleiman’s social media post. Foster joined Seattle as an undrafted free agent in May 2025 after participating in the rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
“Wow: Seahawk WR Montorie Foster Jr. revealed that the team put him in first class to fly him in for offseason workouts. Montorie was an undrafted free agent last year and earned $13,000 per week on the practice squad. One of the best organizations in sports.”

The story resonated because Foster’s path has been anything but guaranteed. The Cleveland native spent part of last semester substitute teaching while waiting for another NFL opportunity. Weeks later, he rejoined Seattle’s practice squad ahead of the postseason push.
Seattle originally signed Foster Jr. after the rookie minicamp in May 2025. The former Michigan State standout appeared positioned for a long-shot roster battle before a hamstring injury derailed training camp. The Seahawks waived him with an injury designation in August. The organization stayed in touch throughout his recovery.
Practice squad contributors rarely receive the spotlight reserved for stars; franchises build depth through relationships like these. Foster eventually returned to the organization in December 2025 and later signed a reserve/future contract after Seattle’s Super Bowl run.
Now the 24-year-old enters another pivotal offseason. The Seahawks added fresh competition at WR through the draft and free agency, leaving every back-end roster spot up for grabs. Even so, the Seahawks’ handling of Foster continues to stand out around the league.
For players battling to survive cutdown season, small gestures can carry real weight. Foster Jr. may still be chasing a permanent place on Seattle’s 53-man roster, but the organization already made clear how much it values the effort behind that climb.
