The New England Patriots' fanbase noticed a small move that makes it seem like Stefon Diggs might be returning for another season with the Pats.
Maybe everyone is reading a bit too deeply into things -- or maybe that's exactly what's happening.
The news was this: Kyle Williams planned to change his jersey number from No. 18 to 8. Now, he's staying put at 18.
Diggs, pictured atop this article, wore the No. 8 in the 2025 season with the Patriots.
New England released Diggs after the season to not pay him the final two years of the sizable contract he had signed before the 2025 campaign.
But if they could get him back on a cheaper deal, maybe they'd be interested.
WR Kyle Williams will keep the No. 18 despite the #Patriots recently announcing that he was making the switch to No. 8

Diggs certainly would have a familiar connection with QB Drake Maye after this Patriots team went to the Super Bowl together.
The former Bills, Vikings and Texans WR Diggs is one of a few veterans that remain free agents at the receiver position, with Deebo Samuel the other most notable.
The Diggs move could also depend on the fact that the Patriots are heavily linked to a trade for Eagles WR A.J. Brown. If that happens, they'd have less need for Diggs.
But the uniform number maneuvering is at least a little bit intriguing.
