The Denver Broncos will not be adding another quarterback to the roster, at least for now.
The team held a rookie minicamp this past weekend and while getting a look at all of their new draft picks and undrafted free agents, the team decided to bring in a pair of quarterbacks to try out for the squad. Veteran Nathan Peterman and undrafted rookie E.J. Warner each gave it their best shot, but the team has chosen not to sign either of them for the moment.
Head coach Sean Payton had great things to say about each player.
Payton discussed Peterman being "fantastic" at calling out the plays during his tryout and Broncos 9News Insider Mike Klis described him as being "overqualified" for minicamp and looked great. If the Broncos wanted to add another veteran option, even just to get them through camp and preseason games, Peterman would fit the bill. That is something the team can always go back to, but it seems that there is plenty to be encouraged about with the rehab of Bo Nix's ankle.
Warner, who is the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner, was an intriguing addition to the list of tryouts, mainly for that reason. Payton seems high on him as well, comparing him to Chase Daniel, who was a backup quarterback for Payton behind Drew Brees in New Orleans for many seasons.
Broncos won't add another QB to preseason roster just yet
It seems like the door has been kept ajar for either of these players in the future, but the Broncos are also going to want to give both Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger as many reps as possible this summer while Nix recovers.
If the Broncos decide to bring in either Peterman or Warner, it would likely just be to compete for a spot on the practice squad. Warner also tried out for the Kansas City Chiefs and could get a look from other teams as well.

Peterman, a fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2017, has played for five NFL teams, most recently as a member of the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad in 2024.
