Depot After Dark: Hoffman Working, Heyward’s Mother’s Day Message, Chargers Sign David Njoku

A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article, but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for May 11.

HOFFMAN WORKING

The Steelers have added several interesting pieces this offseason. However, Brock Hoffman is one player who hasn’t received as much attention. He’s been in the league for four seasons, spending them all with the Dallas Cowboys. While Hoffman has mostly been a backup, he’s still logged 16 starts. He could be in play for the Steelers’ starting left guard job, too.

Hoffman’s not taking this offseason lightly. He posted a video on his YouTube channel showing him working on his craft. While he’s new to the Steelers, he spent the first three seasons of his career playing for Mike McCarthy. Therefore, it shouldn’t be too hard for him to fit in Pittsburgh. We’ll see if his hard work pays off and lands him a starting job with the Steelers.

HEYWARD’S MOTHER’S DAY MESSAGE

Cam Heyward is one of the Steelers’ best players in recent memory. He’s built a great legacy, both on and off the field. Heyward should have a strong case to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day. However, he hasn’t gone through his journey alone. Heyward’s mother has had a big impact on his life.

Mother’s Day was recently, and Heyward made a special message for his mother. NFL Play Football shared it on Twitter, and the videos are sweet. Heyward explains how important his mom is to him, and she gets to share some nice stories about him, too.

CHARGERS SIGN DAVID NJOKU

The Cleveland Browns had a rough 2025 season. They went 5-12 and finished in last place in the AFC North. Also, they fired their head coach. It was more of the same for the Browns, and they lost some key pieces in free agency, too.

That includes tight end David Njoku, who has been one of the Browns’ best players over the past few players. He was with them since 2017, but now, he’s signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Twitter. The Steelers aren’t scheduled to face the Chargers, so unless they meet in the postseason, they won’t have to worry about Njoku.
