Bears’ WR Shocks Everyone By Announcing Retirement
The NFL career of Squirrel White ended before it ever truly began.
On May 11, the Chicago Bears placed White on their reserve/retirement list. In a 16-day period following White’s un-drafted free agent signing with the Bears, White ended his pro career abruptly .
At the time of this writing, White’s specific reason for retirement is still unclear.
On May 9, ESPN Bears writer Courtney Cronin reported that she observed White leaving the Bears’ practice field during rookie minicamp. As Cronin reported on the social media website X, the rookie receiver left with a trainer during stretches and did not return to practice.

In 2022, White began his collegiate football career at Tennessee. He would spend three seasons with the Volunteers.
In 2025, White transferred to Florida State and played in 10 games for the Seminoles. Here is a look at his full college stats:
