Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki has spoken about his rapid rise since leaving Union SG, and dropped an open-ended transfer answer
Noah Sadiki has admitted he has barely had time to process his rapid rise at Sunderland after a stunning first season in English football.
The midfielder joined the Black Cats from Union SG last summer after winning the Belgian title and has quickly established himself as a key figure under Régis Le Bris. Sadiki’s performances have attracted plenty of attention, with the 21-year-old now widely regarded as one of Sunderland’s most impressive summer additions. Speaking to Belgian outlet La Dernière Heure after returning to Union last weekend, Sadiki reflected on how quickly his career has changed since leaving Belgium for Wearside.
“It is amazing to experience everything that is happening to me now,” Sadiki said. “Everything went so fast: the transfer to England just after the title in Belgium, and then immediately a starter in England. I haven’t even had time to really realise what has happened since my departure from Union SG. I talk about Union in England; the English know who they are and couldn’t ignore the performances in the Champions League.”
The midfielder has been one of the clearest examples of Sunderland’s recruitment model in action - signing a young, high-upside player from Europe and quickly helping him adapt to Premier League football. That success inevitably brings attention, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United linked. Sadiki was also asked about his future, with speculation already building around what could come next for the midfielder after his impressive Sunderland breakthrough.
The DR Congo international did not shut down talk of a possible summer move, but insisted his immediate focus remains on finishing the season with Sunderland before turning his attention to the World Cup. “My future? I still have two matches to play with Sunderland, then the World Cup, which will be very special for the Congolese people,” he added. “And as for the rest, we’ll see next season when the time is right.”
Sunderland have two games left in the Premier League, starting with an away trip to Everton this coming Sunday at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, before a final-day clash against managerless Chelsea at the Stadium of Light the following weekend.
