Liverpool and Arne Slot could be about to do their Premier League rivals Chelsea a favour.
Chelsea are still looking for a new manager following the sacking of Liam Rosenior last month.
Xabi Alonso has emerged as the main contender to replace Rosenior, but he has also been linked to Liverpool after Slot’s struggles this season.

Arne Slot staying at Liverpool will give Chelsea free run at Xabi Alonso
Alonso is a Liverpool legend and his former club will be in the Champions League next season, making Anfield a more appealing destination than Stamford Bridge for the 44-year-old.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the noise coming out of Liverpool is that Slot is not going anywhere this summer.
That means Chelsea should have a free run at Alonso, and with the Spaniard currently without a job, they may be able to appoint him soon.
It has been claimed that Alonso believes his system will work with Chelsea’s squad, giving the Blues at least one reason to hire him.

Alonso’s success at Leverkusen and reputation in the game also make him an attractive option for Chelsea.
All in all, everything is pointing towards Chelsea appointing Alonso as their next manager. But if that does not happen for whatever reason, they do have other options.
For example, Chelsea are also interested in Andoni Iraola, who is leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season.
