The£56m Chelsea player that could now join N’Golo Kante at Fenerbahce

N’Golo Kante has spent the last six months back in European football with Turkish giants Fenerbahce and now, the Chelsea icon could be joined by a current player on the Blues’ books – in Nicolas Jackson.

Whoever is in charge come the summer, with Chelsea setting a deadline on the appointment of a new manager, will have plenty of decisions to make when he welcomes a bloated squad to pre-season.

Are you taking Nicolas Jackson back at Chelsea in the summer? Is he better than what we’ve got?

Not only do Chelsea already have a huge number of players on the books currently at Cobham, but they are also set to welcome back plenty of players currently out on loan, including Bayern loanee Jackson.

There are some suggestions that Jackson could be reintegrated at Chelsea, having spent a season as Harry Kane’s understudy. But there is interest in the £56m-rated striker, with four clubs looking at him.

Meanwhile, at Fenerbahce, Kante has been impressing in midfield. The World Cup winner and Stamford Bridge favourite is back in European football after a stint in Saudi Arabia, playing for Al Ittihad.

According to German site Bild, Fenerbahce are now looking to raid Chelsea for Jackson with the Senegal striker’s future in West London in doubt. But Fener are not the only side considering a move to sign him.

The report indicates four sides are interested in Jackson. Alongside Fenerbahce, Serie A clubs Juventus and Milan would also like to sign Jackson, while Ivan Toney’s Al Ahli are also looking to land Jackson.

Cole Palmer misses Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea

Cole Palmer’s form this season has been a source of frustration for supporters. Injuries have not helped, with Alan Shearer describing Palmer’s situation as “horrible”. He has had to play with injuries this term.

But actually, is his drop in form not simply limited to his injury issues? Is it that Chelsea now lack a striker who is willing to run in behind, like Jackson. Joao Pedro comes deep, Liam Delap is more of a target man.

Paul Merson recently said, “I like Palmer, but Palmer misses Jackson. Jackson made Palmer, and Palmer made Jackson. And people used to slaughter Jackson and say, ‘Oh, he’s no good. He misses chances.”

If Chelsea want Palmer to thrive again, they need a striker who is going to run in behind. Whether that is Jackson, or whether that is another centre-forward that is signed this summer, remains to be seen.
