Liverpool are claimed to be “strong contenders” to sign Jarrod Bowen and Eddie Howe has dropped a big hint on the future of Anthony Gordon.
With Mo Salah leaving and Hugo Ekitike suffering a long-term injury, Liverpool are on the hunt for wingers this summer.
As a result, a number of players have already been linked, the latest of which is West Ham‘s Bowen, who has 10 goals and 11 assists this season.
The *Mail*‘s Matt Barlow wrote: “The race is on to sign Jarrod Bowen who could make his West Ham exit this summer even if they escape relegation.
“Liverpool are long-standing admirers and strong contenders as they search for wingers and a replacement for Mo Salah.”

The Reds may have admired Bowen as a player in the past, but the chances of him actually signing are slim.
While he would count as homegrown and, like Salah, is a left-footed right winger, Bowen is not really the profile of player for which Liverpool are looking.
He isn’t lightning quick and it wouldn’t fit with FSG’s transfer model to pay big money for a 29-year-old.
This rumour won’t have come from Liverpool, so it may be a case of the player’s party putting out feelers ahead of West Ham‘s potential relegation.
Eddie Howe offers big hint on Anthony Gordon’s future

Another winger who will be on Liverpool’s radar this summer is Newcastle‘s Gordon.
He came close to joining the Reds in 2024, with a £75 million move agreed which would have seen Joe Gomez head the other way for £45m, as Newcastle looked for solutions to their PSR situation.
Manager Howe dropped a big hint that Gordon’s future lies away from Tyneside after he didn’t even get off the bench in their recent 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest.
Following the game, Howe said: “[The decision not to select Gordon] was tactical. The team has performed well in Anthony’s absence.
“Obviously, we’ve gone with a bit more solidity with Joelinton playing wide and one winger on the other side, just to try to strengthen us defensively.
“We weren’t happy with how we were defending since January really, we’ve been disappointed. So. it was a change of structure really.
“Ant’s come back to fitness and he’s training well, but I’m also looking at the future as well.”
While Liverpool have targeted Gordon in the past, the Athletic‘s James Pearce reported that Liverpool have “no plans” to bring in the Scouser.
Instead, Bayern Munich are now the leading candidates to sign the right-footed Gordon who has played across the front three for Newcastle this season.
