How much Arsenal could pay Chelsea if Kai Havertz wins the Premier League

No Chelsea supporter wants to see Arsenal lift the Premier League title, but it could result in a potential windfall involving forrmer attacker Kai Havertz.

Kai Havertz will always be remembered at Chelsea for that single, iconic moment: his winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final. Despite that strike, his time at Stamford Bridge was full of inconsistency and a struggle to find a permanent position.

He still managed to amass 32 goals across 139 appearances for Chelsea, but his departure to Arsenal for £65 million in 2023 was widely seen as a necessary reset for both the player and the club.

And it could still benefit the Blues all these years later, with Arsenal finding themselves in the Premier League title race and the Champions League final.

Chelsea set for potential Kai Havertz windfall

Chelsea sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal for around £62.5m plus a further £5m in performance-related add-ons. Therefore, should there be a clause in his deal regarding winning the Premier League or Champions League trophy, it would fall into the £5 million and under bracket.

For example, when Chelsea won the Champions League in 2021, German outlets reported that Leverkusen banked roughly €5m (approx. £4.3m) of bonuses immediately.

However, no specific numbers have been revealed for his move to Arsenal at this stage, just an overall add-ons number.

Every little helps for Chelsea financially right now

Missing out on European qualification would be a severe financial blow for Chelsea, especially after recording a Premier League record pre-tax loss of £262.4m for the 2024/25 period.

Without the boost in broadcast and matchday revenue guaranteed by UEFA competitions, the club faces a tightening noose under the Premier League’s new Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) rules, which limit on-pitch spending to 85% of revenue.

Every penny from player sales or performance add-ons, like those potentially triggered by Kai Havertz at Arsenal, becomes vital to avoid any repercussions.
