Liverpool starlet Keyrol Figueroa has switched his international allegiance from the USA to Honduras.
The 19-year-old, son of ex-Premier League player Maynor Figueroa, will now follow in his father’s footsteps by representing the Central American nation.

Maynor Figueroa is best known for his time at Wigan
The forward announced the change in a video posted on the official X account of the Honduran Football Federation.
He appears alongside his father in the video who holds legendary status in Honduran football having clocked up a record 181 caps for Los Catrachos.
Despite being born in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, Figueroa has not represented the country at any level.
Instead, he has featured for the USA at youth level but was left out of last year’s Under-20 World Cup squad.

Keyrol moved to England as a young child due to his father’s transfer to Wigan in 2008. Keyrol later moved to America with his family and later obtained US citizenship.
His affiliation with English football continued when he signed for Liverpool’s academy side.
Figueroa currently features for the Reds’ reserve side where he has netted an impressive 11 goals in 14 Premier League 2 matches.
While he has yet to make his senior debut, Figueroa was named as a substitute during Liverpool’s Carabao Cup exit to Crystal Palace in October.
A decorated career
Meanwhile, Maynor is widely regarded as one of Central America's greatest-ever defenders having enjoyed an international career spanning 19 years.
He is best remembered for his time at the DW Stadium and for scoring a stunning goal from the halfway line against Stoke City in 2009.

Figueroa is Honduras' most capped player of all time
His most decorated moment in English football came when he helped unfancied Wigan upset Manchester City 1-0 in the 2013 FA Cup final.
He moved to Hull City later that year and incredibly helped lead the Tigers to the FA Cup final just 12 months after his previous Wembley heroics.
The Honduran spent the latter part of his career in the USA, playing for Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, and Houston Dynamo.
He captained the national side for almost a decade while representing Honduras at two World Cups, seven CONCACAF Gold Cups, and the 2012 Summer Olympics.
He called time on his career in February 2022 with his final match coming for his country in a 3-0 World Cup Qualifying defeat to the USA.
