Liverpool can sign striker at cut price of £43m – Latest LFC News

Liverpool are among the Premier League clubs reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, and Joe Gomez‘s Reds future is uncertain.

Liverpool reportedly among teams interested in Serhou Guirassy

According to Sky Germany, Guirassy wants to bring an end to his stay at Dortmund this summer, following two seasons there.

He has a £43.4 million release clause in his deal and Liverpool can trigger it, along with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal.

AC Milan, Tottenham and Fenerbahce aren’t in the same position, but they are keen, too.

Guirassy has excelled in Germany, scoring a combined 103 goals in just 153 appearances for Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart.

That said, he is now 30 years of age, so is it worth Liverpool risking a lot of money on an ageing striker?

Liverpool FC: On this day

Liverpool goalscorcer Michael Owen lifts the FA Cup, presented by the Duke of York, after his team defeated Arsenal 2-1 in today's FA Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

On this day in 2001, Michael Owen single-handedly won Liverpool the FA Cup, following an astonishing turnaround in the final against Arsenal in Cardiff.

Having been comprehensively outplayed and going 1-0 to a Freddie Ljungberg goal, the Englishman struck in the 83rd and 88th minute to stun the Gunners, sealing a 2-1 win.

Owen won the Ballon d’Or that year, and without him, Liverpool would never have enjoyed one of the best final victories in their history.

What happened next in his career may have affected his reputation among Liverpool fans, but what a footballer he was at his peak.
