Liverpool may or may not sell Cody Gakpo depending on which reports you choose to believe, but the fact remains that the Dutch forward needs to improve next season if he is still at Anfield.
According to new claims originating from TEAMtalk, Liverpool could sell Gakpo.
“The Dutchman has endured a torrid campaign at Anfield. He’s struck up zero understanding with Milos Kerkez down the left, looks painfully predictable in attack, and at times, has kept the electric Rio Ngumoha out of the eleven,” reports TEAMtalk.
“There’ll be mass change on the wings this summer, with Mohamed Salah leaving and Federico Chiesa having genuine chances to return to Italy. But according to our insider, Graeme Bailey, Gakpo too could be moved on.”
Liverpool were in talks with Bayern Munich to sell Gakpo last summer, before they decided to go with Luis Diaz. This transfer decision has aged like milk.

Liverpool need to improve in wide areas: Selling and replacing Gakpo would be wise
Gakpo earns around £250,000 per week, but is not operating at the level of a player you would hope for when his total annual earnings come to around £13 million.
It’s not all his fault – his compatriot and manager, and Arne Slot is far more responsible for the failings of his players this season, with tactical decisions often baffling fans and experts alike.
That said, the predictability with which Gakpo plays has made it all too easy for defenders to deal with. This season, the former PSV star has nine goals and six assists. That’s simply not good enough for one of European football’s top earners.
Liverpool are linked with the likes of Bradley Barcola, Yan Diomande and even Kylian Mbappe – all of whom would represent major upgrades on the wing or centrally.
While it would be beneficial to sell Gakpo and replace him with the likes of Barcola, he would make a fantastic squad player as he did when playing deputy to Diaz last season.
However, given that Liverpool sold Diaz without signing a direct replacement, selling Gakpo would leave the Reds needing two new left wingers, not one.
