Barcelona respond to Florentino Pérez’s explosive press conference

La Liga champions Barcelona have issued a statement, in response to the fiery comments laid out by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.

The name of Spanish patron Pérez has of course dominated the headlines across Spain on Tuesday evening.

This comes after the 79-year-old called a sudden press conference, in the aftermath of Barcelona’s latest La Liga triumph being confirmed.

During his ensuing exchange with the media, Pérez turned heads with a whole host of outlandish comments, taking aim at his critics, fans and more.

It was the Spaniard’s latest dig at arch rivals Barcelona, though, which truly grabbed the headlines:

“I’ve won 7 Champions Leagues and 7 La Liga titles… I should have won 14 La Ligas but we were robbed. This season, they robbed us of 18 points in La Liga, we did a video on RMTV showing all the incidents.

“We are going to submit a dossier to UEFA so that they put an end to the case. The Negreira case, a sports corruption scandal, is still causing repercussions. There are referees from that era who are still officiating.”

And as alluded to above, those in a position of power at the Spotify Camp Nou have not taken at all long to respond…

In a post across their own website and social media platforms, Barca wrote:

‘Regarding the press conference held by the Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, we inform that our legal department are carefully examining his declarations and accusations. They are currently being analysed and the steps to be taken are being assessed. When considered opportune, any positions and decisions that have been adopted will be notified.’
