Chelsea now forcing out summer signing after just 11 Premier League starts

Chelsea’s 2025 summer transfer window was a mixed bag in terms of success stories, and now the club are actively looking to get rid of one of the big-name additions already.

The additions of Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian have turned out to be major coups for the Blues, with the former set for a big role for Brazil at the upcoming World Cup.

However, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens have contributed just one Premier League goal between them, and not solved the left-wing conundrum at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea pushing Liam Delap out of the club

While Pedro has been finding the net for fun, the same cannot be said for Liam Delap, who has started just 11 Premier League games since his move.

The Englishman has disappointed since his move to West London, scoring just three goals including one in the Club World Cup.

Simon Phillips has stated that Chelsea are actively pushing for Delap to leave the club this summer, either permanently or in a loan with an obligation to buy.

He said: “SPTC Sources understand that as well as Newcastle United, Everton, and Ipswich Town, Leeds United are the latest team to register an interest in Chelsea striker Liam Delap for the summer.

“Strasbourg are also there, which is an idea that has been floated to Delap’s agents from Chelsea. We’ve also heard that Chelsea have told his agents that Delap needs to look for another club this summer. The club want to sell him. There’s also talk of loan to buy deals.”

Delap’s stance on Chelsea exit

Despite a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge, it seems the striker still has confidence he can turn things around in West London.

Delap is keen to stay at Chelsea, although the club are planning mass changes in the striker position when the transfer window opens.

As many as three strikers could be sold by the Blues this summer, including Nicolas Jackson after his loan spell at Bayern Munich comes to an end.

It is safe to say that Delap has not been an upgrade on the Senegal international, and Chelsea are going to be in the market again to find serious competition for Pedro.
