Man United have now decided they’re definitely not hiring Chelsea manager target

Manchester United’s desire to give Michael Carrick that chance to become the permanent manager at Old Trafford has given Chelsea a seemingly clear run at hiring Andoni Iraola this summer.

Chelsea and United will be making permanent appointments this summer after parting ways with Liam Rosenior and Ruben Amorim respectively.

The ship has been steadied at Old Trafford since Carrick’s hiring on a temporary basis, leaving the Red Devils with a decision to stick or twist on their former player.

Chelsea now look the biggest club in England still looking for a manager, with Iraola wanting to remain in the Premier League for his next role.

The Bournemouth boss has Behdad Eghbali’s approval, and is currently on an unbeaten run in the league since the start of January.

It has even been reported that Iraola is waiting for the call from Chelsea, however the club are looking as if they may be pivoting in a different direction.

Chelsea pushing forward with Xabi Alonso

Xabi Alonso has emerged as the leading candidate at Stamford Bridge, with a move to former club Liverpool looking unlikely at this stage.

It has been reported that Alonso has impressed Chelsea in early talks between the two parties, and he has not exited talks at this stage.

The hiring of the new manager is a crucial decision for the ownership to be making, taking into account how low the supporter mood is towards them.

Those fans are set to protest before the FA Cup final at Wembley this Saturday, as well as prior to the London derby against Tottenham on Tuesday.
