BlueCo’s hunt for a permanent successor to Liam Rosenior has taken a turn with Marco Silva set to be ruled out of the running for Chelsea.
Marco Silva emerged as a target for Chelsea. Currently excelling at Fulham, Silva’s tactical discipline and fiery leadership are seen as the ideal remedy for a Chelsea squad often criticised for its lack of intensity.
However, Xabi Alonso remains the club’s dream choice, but Silva offers that Premier League experience that the Blues owners were craving.
Andoni Iraola is also the other name in the running at the moment, but he’s happy to go into next season without a club so he can find the right fit.

Marco Silva flies out to speak to Benfica
According to Portuguese outlet Record, Marco Silva was caught at the airport, with the Fulham boss coach travelling on the same plane as Jose Mourinho.
There have been links between Silva and Benfica, and this only deepens the connection.
With Mourinho reportedly heading to Real Madrid, Benfica has identified Silva as their primary candidate to take over in Lisbon. The prospect of competing in the Champions League with the Portuguese giants may prove more alluring than the ongoing project at Stamford Bridge.

Marco Silva would be underwhelming for Chelsea
While Marco Silva has earned respect for his work at Fulham, his appointment might feel underwhelming to a Chelsea fanbase accustomed to bigger names in years gone by.
The primary concern is his lack of experience managing a super-club with massive expectations and internal politics. He may be tactically sound, but Silva has yet to prove he can handle the relentless pressure of a title race or navigate the deep waters in Europe.
After several transitional seasons, many supporters crave a more proven manager on the global stage like Xabi Alonso.
