A huge noughties band was spotted enjoying a pint in a Liverpool pub before entertaining hundreds of fans. The Hoosiers made their way to the Baltic Triangle last night, Tuesday, May 12, for a gig which marked the release of their sixth album, Compassion.

The band was unsure whether they wanted to make another album in the current music industry setting, but decided to follow up on the conversation from their 2023 release, Confidence.

The pair are currently performing across the country to celebrate the release of their new album, out on Friday, May 15. Before they played some of their new hits, the pair were spotted on Slater Street, enjoying the sunshine outside The Jacaranda, a late-night bar, record store, and live music venue rooted in the city's legendary music culture.

A spokesperson from The Jacaranda told the ECHO: “The Hoosiers popped in for a pint, they’d played here before a few years ago. Whilst they were having a pint, a brass band walked down the street playing Let’s Dance by David Bowie. The band said ‘Man, we love Liverpool. How do you guys get anything done here? It’s so much fun'."

The Hoosiers rocketed to fame back in 2007 with hits including 'Worried About Ray' and 'Goodbye Mr A' from their debut album, The Trick to Life. Speaking about their new album, band member Irwin Sparkes said: "We were compelled not to lose something so valuable. We love playing in this band more than ever and we feel so loved by the fans we have and this album is a big, hug back to them."

"We don’t just want to leave the world with better music than when we found it. We want to leave it a more confident, compassionate spinning orb.”

Al Sharland added: "Releasing an album into the world is like releasing your intentions so we wanted to approach it as if we had a genie offering us one wish. On a personal and political level, it’s apparent that we could all do with more compassion."

They weren’t the only famous faces spotted on the streets of Liverpool last night. Mo Salah, Arne Slot and Andy Robertson were at Bacaro on Castle Street.

The LFC stars enjoyed an evening of celebrations as they gathered to raise a toast to Salah at his leaving party. A large group of fans gathered outside the venue, after they spotted Salah and Robertson entering the Italian restaurant.

Fans told the ECHO they had been waiting since 6pm to see their favourite players. One fan, Will, 24, has recently moved to Liverpool from Colorado, and has been a loyal supporter of the Reds from a young age.
