Everton gem Shea Pita has signed a new contract with the club.

He has taken to Under-21 football like a fish to water this season, and has been duly rewarded with a new deal.

That will keep him with the Blues until 2028, at the very earliest, and give him a chance of making it to the first-team.

For now, though, the focus will be on continuing his development in the academy, with David Moyes surely keeping a close eye on him.

He should now be knocking on Moyes’ door and demanding one specific thing from the Everton boss.

What should Pita demand from Everton manager Moyes?

Pita has revealed his pride at signing fresh terms with Everton, but his attention must now switch to his future plans.

He must ask the club about going on loan and getting senior football, as that is the best move for his development.

The likes of George Pickford and Francis Okoronkwo have bolstered their development with temporary moves away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the 17-year-old must be next in line.

Why is Pita ready for a loan move?

Pita is ready to show what he can do in a testing environment away from Merseyside, and to learn the rigours of senior football.

He has two goals and two assists in 12 matches for the Under-21s, showing that he is capable of making the step up to that level already.

He must now ply his trade at National League level, or perhaps even in League Two or League One, to see whether he can ultimately make it at the top level in the long-run.

He has shown that he is not phased by a step up in class, and the winger must put himself first, and make his preference clear to the manager and the hierarchy in L3.

It makes sense for all parties to sanction a loan exit, as the player will gain valuable experience and the Toffees will get a better player back at the end of it, than if he stayed with the academy.

Given how fast the former FC Llandudno ace has taken to the Under-21 game, it would not surprise if he thrives at an even higher level.
