Arsenal and Chelsea dealt Antony Gordon transfer blow

Newcastle United forward Antony Gordon has agreed terms with Bayern Munich, according to talkSPORT.

However, Bayern have yet to reach an agreement with the Magpies, who are seeking £75 million or more for the England international.

There is optimism that an agreement will be reached, which could see Gordon join international teammate Harry Kane at Bayern.

The Bavarians are prioritising signing a winger this summer, with Luis Diaz and Michael Olise being the only natural wingers in their squad.

The Bundesliga champions have made Gordon a top target and could now be on the verge of securing his signature.

The 25-year-old is also being courted by Arsenal and Chelsea, who are both interested in signing a wide attacker.

Liverpool hold a long-standing interest in him, but are prioritising other attacking targets.

Gordon could struggle for game time at Bayern

The English winger can play anywhere across the frontline but would find it difficult to break into Bayern’s starting line-up.

Kane is the undisputed first-choice striker, while Diaz and Olise have both secured their starting berth on the left and right flanks respectively.

They have been instrumental to Bayern’s success this season and are arguably the best attacking trio in Europe.

Gordon has scored 17 goals across all competitions this season, fewer than Kane (55), Diaz (26), and Olise (22).

The Bayern trio also rarely gets injured, making rotation difficult.

Gordon should consider moving to a club where playing time will be guaranteed. Chelsea could be a good destination, as he would be an upgrade on Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho.
