**Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s days at Anfield appear to be numbered, according to a fresh claim from former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy.**
The discontent among Liverpool’s fanbase continues after a wretched season, with many of the opinion that Slot has taken his team as far as he can.
Ongoing reports continue to suggest that Slot will keep his job, however, with FSG showing patience with the Dutchman, which may not go down well.
Speaking to [_BBC Sport_](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cm2p08gllrko), Murphy claimed that he could see the opposite happening, though, with the 47-year-old likely to lose his job at some point in the near future:
_“I think Slot’s time is probably up. The main reason for saying this is not a dislike of him. I think he’s a good guy and a very bright coach, but the reality is Liverpool’s fanbase is as powerful as any out there, for all sorts of reasons._
_“We know how strong they are in fighting the cause over tickets and other issues, not just the manager. I don’t remember a time when the fans turned on a manager then turned it back around.”_
**Can Arne Slot really turn things around at Liverpool?**
---------------------------------------------------------
Murphy’s stance is likely to go down well with Liverpool fans, and he rightly points out that it is nothing against Slot as a person, with the Reds boss generally carrying himself with class since replacing Jurgen Klopp.
But there has been too much to dislike about this season to suggest that he can turn things around, whether it be poor football, bewildering tactics or a feeling that the players aren’t fit enough or working as hard as they could be.
If Slot stays, it is going to make for a fractious summer at Anfield, with the supporters going into the 2026/27 season in a negative mindset, and it is easy to see things unravelling in the autumn.
Should that happen, it will look like a poor decision for FSG to stick with him for so long, when they could have parted ways sooner and not thrown away another season.
It would be great to see Slot oversee a complete change in fortunes for Liverpool, but the fanbase feels like it has turned too much at this point, and a change is needed.
