Lothar Matthaus has revealed that Vincent Kompany is a huge admirer of Nicolas Jackson, though Chelsea are derailing the Bayern Munich manager’s hopes of keeping the striker in Germany.
Nicolas Jackson’s loan spell at Bayern Munich has been a productive chapter, with the striker netting 10 goals in 33 appearances under Vincent Kompany.
However, Bayern’s refusal to trigger the £56.2 million buy option means Jackson is now set for a return to London.
Back at Chelsea, the situation is evolving. While Jackson enjoyed success in Germany, winning the Bundesliga and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, he remains open to proving his worth at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s recruitment team is currently weighing whether to integrate him into a new-look attack or use his increased market value to fund other targets.

Vincent Kompany wants Nicolas Jackson back
German legend Lothar Matthaus has claimed that Vincent Kompany wants to re-sign Nicolas Jackson, but his price tag is just too high, as per Sky90 (via @iMiaSanMia).
“Kompany is convinced of Jackson’s abilities and would have liked to keep him in Munich, but he’s too expensive. Kompany has made it clear internally that he would like to keep Jackson, but obviously at a certain price that Chelsea might not accept.”
However, the next Chelsea manager may have a big say in his future.

Andoni Iraola is a big fan of Nicolas Jackson
If Andoni Iraola gets the job at Chelsea, then the chances are Jackson would stay and prove his worth during pre-season, as he’s praised him before.
“I faced him with Villarreal. He is a very, very good player. He has the threat with his speed to attack the spaces. But he is very good also when he receives, turns and attacks one against one.
“I think he will provide not only the goals, but a lot of chances. He will work well with the other forwards. I think he is a really good player.”
